“I wanted to create a design which was in keeping with the heritage of the building, as the offices for a local newspaper publisher.  I designed the new office space with modern innovations to create a light and airy work space. To keep the personality of the building I grounded the design with some core elements which reflect the industrial and raw finishes, conveying its previous use and history. These include newspaper print wall coverings, glazed metallic partitions and concrete effect carpet tiles.”

In the Guardian in Guardian House we have dedicated desks for small and start-up businesses, freelancers and solopreneurs. These give a permanent desk and lockable pedestal with 24/7 access to the office.

It’s more than just a place to work though. Starting out or working in a small company can be a lonely business so our dedicated desk members form a great working community. They interact together daily, form business partnerships or just share a drink on a Friday. It’s more than just a place to work.
