“I wanted to create a design which was in keeping with the heritage of the building, as the offices for a local newspaper publisher. I designed the new office space with modern innovations to create a light and airy work space. To keep the personality of the building I grounded the design with some core elements which reflect the industrial and raw finishes, conveying its previous use and history. These include newspaper print wall coverings, glazed metallic partitions and concrete effect carpet tiles.”

In the Guardian Suite in Guardian House we have dedicated desks for small and start-up businesses, freelancers and solopreneurs. These give a permanent desk and lockable pedestal with 24/7 access to the office.
It’s more than just a place to work though. Starting out or working in a small company can be a lonely business so our dedicated desk members form a great working community. They interact together daily, form business partnerships or just share a drink on a Friday. It’s more than just a place to work.

As Covid hit we had to think about social distancing and people working from home so we took on a second office in Guardian house and it was a lifesaver to keep our staff in the office and more importantly keep them safe. Extra safety measures were put in place by Andy and Vashti, weekly emails sent around to make sure we all knew what to expect, even a vertical pub was introduced.
Overall we are now a team of 19 full-time staff and without the help and flexibility from the Point of Difference team, this could have coursed a big headache for us. read less

Once the renovation was complete, my business partner and I attended an opening event and were given a full tour of the offices. Our instincts were right and the offices were even better than expected. The support from Andy, Vashti and their team has been great and they were quick to introduce us to some contacts in the local area as we were new the town.
